Arlen Meyer, Artist
Born in Hollenberg, Kansas in 1937.
Graduated with a BS in Biology/Botany from Concordia College (now Concordia University), Seward, Nebraska in 1959.
Undergraduate and Master's Degree in Art Education from State University College in Buffalo, New York in 1972.
Primary career focused on art education in the elementary and middle school.
Developed and directed the art program for St. John Lutheran School in Seward, Nebraska from 1966 until his retirement in 2001.
Actively involved in the Nebraska Prairie Visions project, a Discipline-Based Art Education Curriculum Development Project, supported by the Getty Institute for the Arts and the Nebraska Board of Education. In this role he served on the faculty, as a regional director, and on the Advisory Board.
In 1994 he received the Christ of Christ award from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska for outstanding service to the church at large.
In 1996 he received the Nebraska Outstanding Art Educator award from the Nebraska Art Teachers Association.
Active as a studio artist working primarily with liturgical arts in an effort to bring visual significance to the worship experience. His work is found in numerous states and Canada.
His work is definied by originality of design and excellent craftsmanship.
